Author Feature: Enna L. Foxwood

Today, I'm delighted to welcome fantasy author Enna L. Foxwood to the blog. It's a great interview, I think you'll really enjoy it -

So, let's get on with it...

Hey, Enna! Great to have you on the blog, thank you so much for joining me. Please introduce yourself and your books, and include one fun fact about you (or three very boring facts)

Thank you for having me! I'm Enna L. Foxwood, fantasy author, and I live in Japan. My book is called Between Roses. The E-book came out in October 2024, and the debut paperback was published in June 2025. The paperback includes illustrations of certain scenes and bonus illustrations in the back.

A fun fact about me is that I have over 100 Beanie Babies.

Aw, Beanie Babies are so cute :) And so is your book cover! But, what tropes can we expect to find inside?

Ooh, sounds fantastic! But books are nothing without their character, so please, describe your main character in just five words.

Eryn: stubborn, understanding, tsundere, confident, caring (learning)

Oh, I've never met the term tsundere before, but I like it! Okay, next question: Fill in the blanks: Between The Roses is [book or film 1] meets [book or film two] with a dash of [whatever]

Between Roses is Alice in Wonderland meets Mean Girls with a dash of cool guys in suits and masquerade masks.

Great combo! Now it's time for a slightly sillier question: If my book were scratch-n-sniff, it would smell like…

Roses and oranges.

Delicious. Many authors would love to see their books adapted for TV or film, so if that happened for Between The Roses, who would be your dream cast?

All I know is that I want Nicole Kidman to play the White Queen because she was awesome as Mrs. Coulter in The Golden Compass.

Nicole Kidman is always a great choice! Us authors often spend a lot of time thinking about our books, but if you could step into your book and join your own stories, would you? Why/why not?

I don't think I would want to step into my book, but I might want to step into the world of Underland and Upperland in general. Being the author, I have the advantage of knowing where everything is and it might be fun to visit characters at their houses.

Oh yes, exploring your own world would be run! Authors also spend a lot of time researching, so what’s the weirdest thing you’ve researched for a book?

"How many toes do lizards have?"

Okay, now I'm curious about how that fits into your book! Now, it's time to let your main characters speak: Hey, Eryn! Hi Duxim! Be honest; what do you think of your author?

Eryn: Hey, I've done one of these before on her Instagram! Honestly, she's crazy. The world is beyond wacky. I went through SO MUCH weird stuff in this world. So many questions. The first thing I hear about the monster, the Gibberjabby, is that "it's really nothing" and for some reason, I have to defeat it with a power I have that I can't see or feel. What the heck is this nonsense? Who came up with this? Oh, she did.

Duxim: Oh, she's nice. I like her. I think she likes me, too. I'll give lots of hugs to you, and her, and everyone! :D

Aw, I think that's the nicest response to this question I've had so far :)

Okay, Enna, we're onto the penultimate question - except it's in four parts, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, please would you share:

a. The first line of your book

Eryn stormed down the school hall to catch up with the stupid nerd in the plaid shirt.

b. The last line of your book (if there’s no spoilers)

Magical device? Oh mah gawsh, Technology 101, here we come.

c. Your favourite line that you’ve written

I have so many favorites. Almost the whole book XD

But here's a bit I like because it ties into the beginning of the book.

"A small part of her didn’t want to leave without doing something for Duxim."

d. A line without context that raises more questions than it answers

“Hadded-Notted,” Jack said with a smirk, “and only the alyce can save us all.”

Those are some great lines (and the out-of-context line definitely raises questions!)

Thank you so much for your time, Enna, I've loved learning more about Between Roses! For anyone who wants to discover more about you and your book, where can people find you online?
